Parable of the Brown Girl: Panel Discussion , Author Talk & Book Signing!

February 15, 2020 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Author Engagement, Book Signing and Panel Discussion, based on soon to be released, Parable of the Brown Girl by Khristi Lauren Adams!

“The stories of girls of color are often overlooked, unseen, and ignored rather than valued and heard.” – Khristi Lauren Adams, Parable of the Brown Girl

In Parable of the Brown Girl, minister and youth advocate Khristi Lauren Adams introduces readers to the resilience, struggle, and hope held within the stories of girls of color. Instead of relegating these young women of color to the margins, Adams brings their stories front and center where they belong.

We will hear the struggles, dreams and profound wisdom of girls like those featured in Parable of the Brown Girl through a panel discussion moderated by 15 year old, Ssanyu Lukoma, Founder of Brown Kids Read.

Brown Kids Read is a non-profit organization whose mission is to motivate all children, but especially children of color, to read more diverse literature. They do this by setting up free community reading events to get kids excited about reading. Their goal is to make diverse books accessible to the children who need to read them– Every Single Child!

A percentage of all sales from this event will go to support Brown Kids Read.
